Magnificent. Full size RWD Maz, how unlikely. I'm on a real early 90's Japanese luxury kick right now: 929, Millennia, ES, GS, LS, those Infinitis that I'll research next... even the O.G. Avalon. I love that gentle styling and restraint and luxury-without-the-snobbery.
Also, what an era for photography and marketing..

Imagine if this Mazda had the same driving dynamics it is so praised for. It would be a collectors item.

Indeed a beautiful thing.

The HB cosmo in Indonesia sold as a Mazda 929.
Except the one with 13b.
The more you know..

I hear it drives like a big 626 - in short, almost perfect.

I always liked the previous generation 929, the super boxy one. I don't know why.

I'll dig more into this!

A friend of mine in college had a grey 929 as a hand me down car. It was a really nice car, even with its very high mileage. It ended up pucking its 3rd and 4th gears on the interstate, and my buddy had to limp it to the only building at the next exit .... A porn shop north of Champaign, IL.
Its too bad Mada doesn't make a big RWD sedan anymore.

Don't forget the Vigor and 1st-gen TL :)

Yeah. I haven't had much interest in the Acuras because they're a little boxy—not that I don't love boxy, just not in this context

I thought about buying one of these some years back, but visions of ownership kept getting clouded up by blue smoke.
Come to think of it, it's been a while since I've seen a car belch blue smoke. That streak finally broke upon seeing a late 90s Sebring convertible, torn-up top and all, pour a gentle, nearly imperceptible trail of blue smoke from its proud Mitsubishi-built V6.

I think Mitsubishi recently passed the blue-smoke torch to the Dodge Intrepid. I see a lot of those belching it (I assume it's the awful 2.7).

If memory serves me right, the 929 came after the Luce... Which had a 13B.
I wonder if it's possible to do 13B swap?

Intrepids of any stripe are getting a bit thin on the ground. Ditto for LHSes and you can thank your lucky stars if you see an Eagle Vision tooling around. Automotive passenger pigeons...
